LAWYER, THE MONKEY by Amos Lekumok (This story has been slightly edited.)
Once upon a time there lived a monkey, a lawyer in the animal Kingdom who had never lost a case in court. He became very rich and proud.
One day, when he opened the door of his car a lion, sudden as gunshot, zoomed past and knocked off the car door. Monkey was very annoyed and shouted, “My Mercedes! That idiot just ruined it. You will know today my true colors and why chickens don’t pour water.”
“If you’re worried about your car then what about your arm?” asked Lion. Monkey was shocked to the root of existance and dilly dallied not. Tears rolled down his chubby cheeks like a river that has broken its banks as he held his injured arm. “My silver watch is gone! You take after a billy-goat,” he shouted.
Lion roared loudily and Monkey hurried away. He was taken to the hospital for further treatment and within a month he was well, but not as well as before. His car was taken to the garage where the mechanic Zebra tried to repair it, but it would never be new again.
Monkey learned a lesson. It was not always good for one to be too proud of things. He learned that it would be better to be humble and loyal to all other animals in the jungle.
